“Can We Talk?”

by Abenezer Amanuel

Hello there! It has been quite a while hasn’t it? Whew. 1 month, 2 weeks and a day to be exact. I counted. I have been getting charged during these past few days and just listening to What God is trying to teach in different areas of my life. Today, I would like to hightlight on one of them. Reconciliation. Ever heard of someone ask “Can we Talk?” Pretty sure someone has asked that to you too. It is not fun to hear it, is it? There is something that makes your heart beat a little bit faster when you hear. Well, atleast mine does. Well, I am sure you have had some disagreements and things seem to be going wrong so there are those days where a little communication helps fill the gap. you know what is funny though? Specially in this generation, we have really gotten used to the idea of “You stay in your lane, I am gonna stay in mine.” Or in simple terms “you do you, boo.” This doesn’t work in the house of God though. The bible says, we are like the many parts of the Body and we all function when we are in unity. And in this unity there isn’t always going to be good times. There are challenging times when you disagree with a brother or sister in christ and even argue. The thing about being a Christian (New creation) is that you are going to have to get
out of your comfort zone and make peace even when you are
not in the wrong let alone when it is your fault. Not gonna lie sometimes that flesh wants to make a little quick cameo on you and make you regret it but, Once you bite on your flesh
beat down that ego and selfishness and let the holy spirit take over, he will help you. Three simple words. “Can we Talk?” Helps you to start the conversation.

The Bible says in Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers
for they shall be called children of God” You see that? That’s you when you make peace between you and the person, you are displaying one of the characters of being the Child of God. Is it easy? No. but rememeber, the spirit that dwells within you is a peaceful one. Jesus is Peace. The Holy Spirit Gives Peace. And when we are filled with peace, what we offer to others is Peace. So be filled with this peace! Peace be upon you! And be at peace with others as well. Remember at all times that you are the child of God and our God is a peaceful God. He is the God of Peace. So whenever you find yourself in situation where you have know there has been a gap created, don’t hesitate to initate conversations and communicate. Always remember to Remain calm, listen to understand the other’s point of view in order to get to the bottom of it and solve any problems and miscommunications. When it is your fault Learn how to say, “I am Sorry. I know what happened was not right.” And if you find that you have been misunderstood, simply start with “I am sorry that you felt that way…” and then proceed with your side of the story to give a clearer picture. If they are not willing to accept it and things are getting heated, let it go. Just make sure you have no ill intentions at heart. Remember the story of Paul and Peter having a sharp disagreement? (Acts 15) But at the end even though they each went their way, they went their way doing the same things. Which was spreading the Gospel. So just keep in mind that there are circumstances where you have to part ways. At the end of the day, you are both part of the same line of work so somewhere down the road you will meet. Just keep in mind not take anything to heart. Learn how to forgive and let go. Unforgiveness creates bitterness and we know that biterness and The New Creation don’t match. As far as it depends on you learn how to make the peace and move on. That is what the bible says. Right? So, Without holding grudges or any
ill thoughts towards the other person, make peace and let them go. Also, it is very important to know that the enemy sows seeds of discord in the fellowship of believers so that it will be hindrance to the work of the kingdom of God. This is a spiritual warfare. So make sure, you Pray against the evil spirit and make sure you stay together in heart and spirit. At the end of the day, the goal is to do the work we have been sent to do and do it for the glory of God. As I have mentioned earlier, always good to keep in mind that, Initiating conversations in times of conflicts also helps you to train yourself how to be humble and to meet everyone at their level. So, take that seriously and don’t get discouraged if things don’t go the way you expect them too. Always learn how to pray and give the rest to God as well. This works outside the church or with non-believers so apply this everywhere you go.

So with that being said beloved, Learn how to be at peace with everyone by putting aside the selfish needs of the flesh and putting on the full armor of God and by having a humble heart. Don’t forget to Protect your heart from Grudge and Bitterness. Although it might not make sense, it is better to be considered Foolish while obeying God than to be percieved as a wise person that follows the norms or what is considered “logical” in the world’s point of view. So who do you need to be reconciled with today? Ask them “Can we Talk?” And let the Holy Spirit Guide you.

Peace, Grace and Blessings to you and yours in Jesus’ name,
Your Sister In Christ,
Abenezer A.
