I wonder how many times we have looked back at our younger self and realized the mistakes we have made especially as a result of the wrong things we have learned from society. In this world, where sin reigns, believers have to truly understand what it means to be under the culture of the Kingdom of God. Maybe you grew up around those who are from the same earthly culture as you are, which in my case is the same thing but as I grew older I realized the importance of adopting the Kingdom Culture principle if we truly desire to live out the verse “your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. For centuries, many have proudly passed on their different cultures, some inspired by the God that made us and we serve while some cultures are a result of the human flesh’s desires and then there are the idol worship-related customs many have carried on for generations. Whatever it is and wherever it comes from, all these cultural differences have found a way to be one when it comes to the Kingdom of God. That is through the blood of Jesus.

I remember growing up, my parents NEVER emphasized the earthly culture we were part of and always made sure to lay in us the everlasting foundation which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. As a result, while there were differences left and right due to cultural chaos in this world, we knew as kingdom citizens our unity that was created in the blood of Jesus was much stronger than one that has been sustained by human sacrifice. Brothers and Sister, as you are reading this, and as I am writing this as well I want us to take a moment to reflect on where we stand today in this Eternal Kingdom where no race, language, ethnic background, and tribe has power since the blood of Jesus has been our uniting point. It is amazing how freeing it becomes when one truly starts to think from this kingdom’s perspective and start looking at people with the new set of eyes we receive once we become a new creation in Christ. So it is not right to place limits that God did not place on us when it comes to culture and be only concerned about the one we know of and are part of. As children of God, it is important that we break free from the social norm and the expectations of this sinful world and go into all parts of the world, speak any language the holy spirit enables us to, and worship God in different ways for his glory! Relationships as in Friendships and even Marriages should be based on the fact that the person is born again and not merely on cultural differences which can be adapted and learned over time if anyone is willing to do so. You know, It always makes me wonder to the point of me questioning a lot of people’s understanding of who the God they worship is when I come across people who have been convinced (in the house of God that is) to marry someone of different race is “Spoiling the seed”. This for me has no meaning and baffles me. Did Christ not die for this same person? And isn’t a believer that is from a culture I have never heard of closer to me in Christ than an unbeliever born of the same mother and father? It seems to me that we have at some point forgotten that language and cultural barriers came as a result of rebellion against God at the tower of Babel. Nothing about that makes you want to brag and shout on the rooftops. So why on earth would anyone boast about that? I have concluded that as children of God, remembering that it is for freedom’s sake that Christ has set us free and that We should never be yoked by slavery, we should live out the calling God has placed in our lives by broadening our horizon in our social life, ministry and day to day walk. While looking forward to that one day when we will all come together to sing along before our King, who will return in Glory this new song;
“You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.”
